Developing Treatments for Post Traumatic Stress

A discussion on developing treatments for post traumatic stress. With post-traumatic stress estimated to afflict almost 8% of Americans in general, and 10-18% of veterans of the Iraq and Afghanistan wars, research to better treat PTS is especially critical right now. Michael Fanselow, PhD, is a longtime leader in the study of this condition, and he is also the recently appointed Staglin Family Chair in Psychology and Director of the Staglin Family Music Festival Center for Brain and Behavioral Health at UCLA.

In this Brain Waves interview, One Mind President, Brandon Staglin chats with Dr. Fanselow about his recent innovations for developing treatments for post traumatic stress that include a potential mechanism to reverse PTS symptoms and a computer model to refine anxiety therapies.
