Pursuing Anti-Inflammatory Depression Therapies – Dr. Scott Russo

What if chronic major depressive disorder could be diagnosed with a simple blood test for a hyperactive inflammatory gene? Could new drugs be developed to address this inflammation, and thus address the symptoms of treatment-resistant depression? Scott Russo, Ph.D., of the Icahn School of Medicine and winner of the Johnson & Johnson / One Mind Rising Star Translational Research Award, talks about his pioneering work along these lines.

The Q&A period is now closed. Thanks so much to CEW, Janice, huntervd, and Niamhor for your very interesting questions; and many, many thanks to Dr. Russo for his fantastic insights. Tune in next month for a Q&A with crackerjack autism geneticist Dr. Lauren Weiss!
