Aash Shah

Dr. Aashish Shah has a 3600 perspective of healthcare with roles spanning the continuum from individual provider to institutional payer. He is a seasoned executive whose expertise is the achievement of healthcare innovation through the integration of product design, physician alignment, network development and value-based contracting.
Dr. Shah has been with HCA Healthcare since 2019. First as the Senior Vice President of Clinical and Business Development for its Sarah Cannon Cancer Institute. He is now the Corporate Vice President for Strategy, Product Innovation within HCA’s Payer Contracting and Alignment. He is responsible for leading HCA’s product development and innovation through strategic alignment with health plans, third-party administrators and employers.
Dr. Shah previously served as President/CEO of Provision CARES Cancer Centers. Prior to joining Provision, he was the Chief Healthcare Value Officer for The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center Proton Therapy Center. Dr. Shah has held the roles of Vice President and Medical Director of Health Plan Services for Valence Health (now Evolent), the Chief Clinical Director for CareFirst BCBS, and the Vice President and Medical Director of Community Health Choice, Inc.
As a board-certified OBGYN and a Fellow of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists, Aashish has practiced in public, private and academic settings. He began his career in private practice in League City, Texas and then moved on to the University of Texas Medical Branch Women’s HealthCare Group where he was appointed an Instructor and Physician. He has had appointments at Baylor College of Medicine and The University of Texas School of Public Health. He currently has a clinical appointment to the University of Houston Medical School.
After developing a private practice, he transitioned into executive roles first with the City of Houston as the Chief Physician for Preparedness and then with the State of Texas as Department of State Health Services Regional Medical Director.
Dr. Shah formalized his aptitude for business in 2008 when he joined Fulbright & Jaworski L.L.P. after receiving his J.D. from the University of Houston Law Center. His practice areas included healthcare transactions, operations, regulation, and complex litigation. Then, in 2010 Dr. Shah became the first ever Executive Fellow at Texas Children’s Hospital Integrated Delivery System where he worked on enhancing system quality, developing service lines and improving health plan operations.
Aashish is a strong healthcare advocate. As a legislative intern with the Texas Medical Association, he worked with the House Subcommittee on Public Health to establish the Council on Cardiovascular
Disease and Stroke. In 2014, he was appointed to the Texas Department of Insurance Standard Request Form for Prior Authorization of Medical Care or Health Care Services Advisory Committee. The following year, the Governor of Maryland appointed him to the Task Force to Study Maternal Mental Health. His most recent publications focus on prior authorization and preventing cancer care denials.
