Colleen Hanlon

Dr. Colleen Hanlon is a neuroscientist and internationally recognized leader in the development of non-invasive neuromodulation therapies for substance use disorders. As Vice President of Global Medical Affairs at BrainsWay, she oversees clinical trials, regulatory communications, publication strategy, and educational initiatives. She also provides strategic scientific leadership on non-invasive neuromodulation technology to external partners and stakeholders.

Before joining BrainsWay, Dr. Hanlon was a tenured professor at Wake Forest School of Medicine, where she conducted pioneering research on brain stimulation for addiction. She has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications, mentored more than 75 trainees in brain imaging and neuromodulation, and was the senior author of the first consensus paper on non-invasive therapeutic development for addiction. Her contributions to the field were recognized in 2023 when she received the International Brain Stimulation Early Career Investigator Award for her work on transcranial magnetic stimulation for drug and alcohol use disorders.

Dr. Hanlon earned her Ph.D. in neurobiology from Duke University and completed her undergraduate studies at the University of Florida. She is deeply committed to advancing education and training in brain stimulation globally and is passionate about translating scientific discoveries into real-world clinical applications.
