Dr. Lee’s research has led to biologically targeted diagnostics and treatments for mood and anxiety disorders during adolescence.

Dr. Francis Lee is a neurobiologist and psychiatrist whose research focuses on the molecular basis of mood and anxiety disorders, particularly during the transition from childhood to adolescence. His work has led to biologically targeted diagnostic tools and treatments, and he has authored nearly 100 peer-reviewed studies. Chair of Psychiatry at Weill Cornell Medicine and psychiatrist-in-chief at NewYork-Presbyterian/Weill Cornell, Dr. Lee holds professorships in psychiatry, pharmacology, and neuroscience. He earned his M.D. and Ph.D. from the University of Michigan, trained in psychiatry at Weill Cornell, and completed postdoctoral research at NYU and UCSF. His honors include the Presidential Early Career Award for Scientists and Engineers and election to the National Academy of Medicine.
