Dr. Fitzgerald’s lab is improving early interventions for childhood anxiety by integrating neurodevelopmental research with innovative behavioral programs.
Dr. Kate D. Fitzgerald is the Ruane Professor of Child and Adolescent Psychiatry at Columbia University and the New York State Psychiatric Institute, specializing in pediatric obsessive-compulsive and anxiety disorders. Her research focuses on enhancing treatments for childhood anxiety by uncovering neurodevelopmental mechanisms and optimizing interventions like cognitive-behavioral therapy (CBT). She leads studies across developmental stages and directs Camp Kidpower, a novel program targeting cognitive control in young children. Dr. Fitzgerald earned her M.D. from Wayne State University and completed psychiatry training at the University of Michigan.
