Identifying Schizophrenia Gene Interaction and Expression. Rutgers University.

Dr. Brzustowicz’s team is uncovering genetic and molecular risk factors for schizophrenia and autism, advancing understanding of microRNA regulation in brain development and disease.

Dr. Linda Brzustowicz is a neuroscientist whose research group applies molecular and statistical genetics to clinically relevant problems in neuroscience, with the goal of understanding gene function in both pathological and normal states. Her current work focuses on the genetics of schizophrenia, autism, and psychiatric symptomatology. Her group has conducted projects involving the development of phenotype definitions, subject recruitment and assessment, genotyping, statistical analysis for linkage and association studies, comparative genomic analysis, and gene expression studies. She is also particularly interested in the role of microRNAs in regulating gene expression in the human brain and in advancing moderately high-throughput genotyping technologies.
