Dr. Berton’s research connects chromatin regulation to the effects of antidepressant and antiparkinsonian therapies, shaping next-generation psychiatric treatments.
Dr. Olivier Berton is a tenure-track Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the University of Pennsylvania Perelman School of Medicine, with affiliations in the neuroscience and pharmacology graduate groups. His research focuses on how chromatin-regulating enzymes influence the effects of antidepressant and antiparkinsonian therapies. A native of France, he earned his Ph.D. in neuroscience from Bordeaux Segalen University, worked in antidepressant drug discovery at UCB Pharma, and completed postdoctoral training with Dr. Eric Nestler at UT Southwestern. Dr. Berton’s work has been recognized with multiple Young Investigator Awards, the 2010 IMHRO Rising Star Award, and funding from the NIH and Michael J. Fox Foundation.
