Dr. Scott Russo
Dr. Russo’s lab has mapped immune–brain interactions that drive depression and social dysfunction, influencing translational approaches to mood disorders.
Dr. Scott Russo is a Professor of Neuroscience and Director of the Center for Affective Neuroscience and the Brain Body Research Center at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. His research explores the neural and immune mechanisms underlying neuropsychiatric disorders, identifying pathways that link human depression to causal mechanisms in rodent models and uncovering brain circuits that drive social dysfunction. A highly cited scientist and Kavli National Academy of Sciences Frontiers Fellow, Dr. Russo earned his Ph.D. in Psychology from CUNY, completed postdoctoral training at UT Southwestern, and has received numerous honors, including the Johnson & Johnson/IMHRO Rising Star Translational Research Award.
