Dr. Stephan Lammel
Dr. Lammel’s research is pinpointing exact brain pathways involved in motivation and reward, enabling the design of highly specific circuit-based therapies.
Dr. Stephan Lammel is an Associate Professor of Neurobiology and a Weill Neurohub Investigator whose research focuses on the neural circuits underlying motivation, reward, and mental illness. His lab uses a broad range of tools—including circuit tracing, electrophysiology, optogenetics, and behavior—to study how defined brain pathways contribute to behavior and how they are altered in psychiatric disorders. By identifying precise targets within these circuits, Dr. Lammel aims to inform the development of highly specific, circuit-based treatments that minimize side effects associated with current therapies.
