Finding Voice, Women’s Leadership, and Building Change: A Journey in Workforce Mental Health
Fireside Chat | Hosted by the TOMODACHI Initiative
Location: New York University (New York, NY)

This fireside chat explored how lived experiences shape professional purpose and leadership and examined mental health in both the United States and Japan not only as an individual concern but as a workplace and systems challenge that calls for structural solutions. Students in the cohort shared the challenges they have observed and experienced as women in Japan and their desire to help build healthier, more supportive environments at home and globally. The discussion also touched on why it is okay not to be okay, and how asking for help and asking for opportunity can both be acts of leadership.
Speakers:
- Haruka Kokaze, Chief of Staff & Senior Lead, Japan Mental Health Initiatives, One Mind
- Eiko Okamoto, Founder, EOKA NYC
