Mental Health Matters: The Corporate Role in Supporting Japanese Expatriates & Their Families

This lecture, hosted by PASONA Group and delivered to their Overseas Human Resources Study Group in Tokyo, was attended by more than 70 representatives from Japanese companies. The session examined the growing importance of corporate engagement in employee well-being across global workplaces and discussed the challenges Japanese expatriates and their families face, including adjustment, language barriers, and limited access to appropriate and responsive care. It introduced global frameworks and best practices that companies can adopt to support mentally healthy workplaces, and closed by encouraging greater collaboration between Japanese headquarters and overseas offices to support employees working abroad.
As part of an ongoing collaboration with PASONA, Haruka Kokaze, Chief of Staff & Senior Lead, Japan Mental Health Initiatives at One Mind has published a series of articles on workforce mental health, written in Japanese, on PASONA’s Virtual HR Business Partner, a free portal supporting business leaders at Japanese subsidiaries in the United States.
