
Alex Sheehan, MPA, MS, MBA
Alex Sheehan serves as Manager, Lived Experience Advancement, at One Mind. Having previously served as a member of One Mind’s Lived Experience Council, Alex brings both personal experience and organizational perspective to advancing meaningful partnerships with people who have lived experience of serious mental illness. Prior to joining One Mind, he served as a Program Manager at the Washington State Health Care Authority where he led a portfolio of statewide programs, projects, and strategic initiatives focused on low-barrier, equitable access to mental and behavioral health care and recovery support services for Washingtonians. Alex is currently completing his Doctor of Public Health (DrPH) degree at Tulane University and is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Research Scholar at Johns Hopkins University.
Beyond One Mind, he serves as Chair-Elect of the Mental Health Section of the American Public Health Association and Vice-Chair of the Mental Health & Substance Use Research Interest Group Advisory Board at AcademyHealth. He also advises organizations and academic institutions working to advance lived experience leadership and mental health innovation, including the Healthy Brains Global Initiative, Aves Mental Health, the Mental Health Catalyst program at the Institute for Manufacturing of University of Cambridge, and the George Washington University Center for Global Mental Health Equity.
Alex has been recognized as a de Beaumont Foundation 40 Under 40 in Public Health, Class of 2025, and a Boston Congress of Public Health 40 Under 40 in Public Health, Class of 2026, honoring his leadership in advancing public health and mental health systems. In 2026, he was also selected as a Delegate on Health to the United Nations 5th Global Peace Summit in Bangkok, Thailand, where he joined emerging global leaders from over 60 countries working to advance health, equity, and international collaboration through lived experience.
Alex has master’s degrees in public administration, public policy and political science and governance from Liberty University, an MBA from Quantic School of Business and Technology, dual bachelor’s in criminal justice and psychology from University of Washington and an associate’s degree in psychology from Green River College.
Alex enjoys writing and spoken word poetry, exploring the outdoors, researching weird and obscure facts, and is a self-professed tech nerd!
