Jules Silverman

Hello, my name is Jules! I’m an artist and mental health advocate living in Manhattan! I’m a visual arts major at Columbia and the world is my canvas.

By using all media to make art, I integrate my lived experience with schizophrenia with the creative process. I illustrate my struggles with hallucinations and delusions by depicting them in art. Being part of One Mind gives me the opportunity to engage in the lived experience community and helps me understand how different people cope with mental illness everyday! This informs my art.

In addition to painting and sculpting daily, I love to walk! I do 6-12 miles a day! It keeps me balanced and often inspires my artworks! I take my dog for walks every day as well.

My goal is to become an art therapist someday and heal people with the art making that healed me! One Mind is helping me reach out in the mental health community and gets me closer to achieving my goals.
