
Katie Patel, PsyD
Dr. Katie Patel is a member of the One Mind Community Advisory Network, where she works to elevate the voices of individuals living with serious mental illness (SMI) and drive meaningful change across workplaces, mental health systems, and research. Her work is deeply informed by both professional and personal experience, including caring for her grandmother with schizophrenia and her own lived experience with bipolar disorder.
She earned her doctorate in clinical psychology with a mission to help individuals lead meaningful, fulfilling lives beyond their diagnosis. Dr. Patel has clinical expertise in serious and persistent mental illness (SPMI), geropsychology, multicultural psychology, and psychological assessment. Her research has focused on reducing stigma surrounding bipolar disorder. Dr. Patel has been recognized by the American Psychological Association for her dedication to serving individuals with SPMI and has received multiple awards for program development aimed at improving care and outcomes in inpatient psychiatric settings for both adults and older adults.
Outside of her professional work, she enjoys spending time with her family, weightlifting, exploring new restaurants, developing leadership skills, and watching the sunset at the beach.
