Sara Shnider, PhD
Scientific Director
Sara is a Scientific Director at One Mind, where she is responsible for directing scientific programs to advance impactful research and innovation towards better treatments and care for people with mental health disorders. She brings over ten years of experience in building and leading academia-industry research partnerships in academia, non-profits, and industry.
Prior to One Mind, Sara directed a portfolio of global academic collaborations at Teva Pharmaceuticals, aimed at accelerating the company’s drug development efforts from discovery through Phase I. She was responsible for sourcing and evaluating cutting-edge discoveries with potential to accelerate R&D efforts in the neurosciences, managing scientific collaborations, and oversight of engagement in international public-private consortia. She also served as mentor in the company’s entrepreneurship programs for outstanding graduate students.
Previously, she led scientific strategy and operations as executive director of a non-profit organization developing incentive prizes and scientific programs to catalyze breakthroughs in development of new therapies for amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS). Her experience in industry-academia partnerships began as a senior industry contracts officer at the technology transfer office at University of California, San Francisco (UCSF). Sara obtained her Ph.D. at Harvard University in developmental neurobiology, and her MSc in bioinformatics at the Weizmann Institute of Science.
