Challenges for Employers in Asia-Pacific: Stigma and Overwork

Mental health in the workplace has emerged as a tangible global priority, evidenced by its inclusion in the World Economic Forum agenda. As awareness of mental health in the workplace expands across borders, cultures and languages, employers – especially large, multinational organizations – must keep in mind the cultural and societal contexts that change the landscape of mental health from country to country. When an employer headquartered in North America with offices in Asia implements an enterprise-wide workplace mental health strategy, it is important that the programs and messages address the challenges that exist across continents.
