The Science & Innovation Symposium is part of the in-person event held at Staglin Family Vineyard and melds the expertise of its guest speakers with its welcoming and familial atmosphere to boost knowledge and hope for all who attend.

This year’s theme will be “From Inspiration to Impact” and will feature keynote speakers, Regina Dugan, PhD, CEO of the Wellcome Leap, and Susanne Ahmari, MD PhD, Director of Wellcome Leap’s Multi-Channel Psych Initiative, in addition to presentations from the 2025 Rising Star Awardees, founders from the 2025 One Mind Accelerator cohort, and One Mind at Work leaders.

Regina Dugan, PhD

President & CEO of Wellcome Leap Inc.

Regina is an internationally recognized business executive, producer, engineer-artist, taskmaster, and product developer. She has led world-class, global teams, and hundred-million to multi-billion dollar efforts to deliver breakthrough products at Facebook, Google, Motorola, as the 19th Director, and first woman to lead, the Defense Advanced Research Projects Agency (DARPA). FORTUNE described Dugan as one of the world’s leading experts on product innovation, “the kind that unhinges old ways of operating, juices competition and creates new growth.” She has been named to the Verge 50 list, Fast Company’s ‘Most Creative People in Business 1000,’ CNN’s ‘Top 10 Thinkers’, and CNBC’s ‘NEXT LIST’. As executive producer, she has 4 Annie Awards, 1 Emmy, and 1 OSCAR nomination.

She holds her PhD in mechanical engineering from Caltech, where she is a Distinguished Alumnus (one of 256 historical honorees including Carver Mead and Gordon Moore) and her BS/MS from VaTech, where she was inducted to Academy of Engineering Excellence.

Susanne Ahmari, M.D., PhD

Director of Wellcome Leap’s Multi-Channel Psych Initiative

Susanne Ahmari, M.D., PhD is a practicing psychiatrist and neuroscientist with expertise in translating findings between humans and model systems. She is a trailblazer in the use of advanced technology to precisely manipulate and monitor circuits to uncover the neural substrates of obsessive compulsive disorder. Dr. Ahmari earned her MD and PhD in Molecular and Cellular Physiology from Stanford University and completed her residency in Psychiatry at Columbia University. She then established the Translational OCD Laboratory at University of Pittsburgh in 2013 to conduct interdisciplinary research that will ultimately lead to better treatments for patients.

In addition to being an Associate Professor of Psychiatry at University of Pittsburgh and Director of the Translational OCD Laboratory, Dr. Ahmari is also currently a Program Director at Wellcome Leap, where she developed and is directing Multi-Channel Psych, a $50 million program to deliver new treatments for anhedonic depression. She is also a past One Mind Rising Star Awardee. Her research program has been supported from NIMH, NINDS, and other foundation grants including a Burroughs Wellcome Career Award, IOCDF Breakthrough Award, and Foundation for OCD Research Consortium Award. She has also received a number of awards in recognition of her translational neuroscience efforts, including the McKnight Scholar Award, the NIMH BRAINS Award, the A.E. Bennett Research Award, the MQ Fellows Award, and the ACNP Eva King Killam Research Award. She sits on the scientific advisory board of several research foundations, including the Brain and Behavior Research Foundation (NARSAD), ORCHARD, the International OCD Foundation (IOCDF), and ARIA.
