New Appointees Include Christopher Lyle, Formerly of Google and Sequoia Capital, and Harvey Schwartz, Formerly of Goldman Sachs
RUTHERFORD, Calif. – May 19, 2021 – One Mind, a leading mental health and brain research nonprofit, has announced the addition of two seasoned executives and investors, Christopher Lyle and Harvey Schwartz, to the organization’s board of directors, effective immediately.
As board members, Lyle and Schwartz will provide valuable insights and perspective towards the strategy of One Mind’s multitude of initiatives. Among these initiatives, both Lyle and Schwartz intend to play active roles in the One Mind Catalyst Fund, which comprises charitable donations that invest in for-profit companies to further knowledge, treatment and cures for brain health issues, and One Mind at Work, which is a global coalition of leaders from diverse sectors with a vision to unite CEOs and global leaders to transform brain health in the workplace.
Lyle is currently a managing partner at Skyline Capital, having previously served as an advisor for Google and chief of business for Google Cloud. Prior to Google, he founded Sequoia Capital Global Equities, a public and late-stage private fund focused on leading technology companies, and acted as managing partner and portfolio manager. In addition to leading the Global Equities business, Lyle served on the global management committee for all of Sequoia’s investment funds.
“I’m honored to join an organization leading the way in research and development for brain health,” said Lyle. “I look forward to supporting the incredible work already underway at One Mind and to help accelerate the exciting growth of programs such as One Mind at Work.”
Schwartz is a business leader, investor and philanthropist. For more than 30 years, his professional focus centered on tackling complex financial and business challenges, innovating and strengthening financial markets and developing leaders. Schwartz retired from Goldman Sachs Group, Inc. in 2018 following more than 20 distinguished years at the company where he oversaw sales and trading, finance, technology and operations. He completed his tenure as the firm’s president and co-chief operating officer.
“As a dedicated advocate for mental health research and support, I carefully sought the right organization to join, and One Mind’s mission and multi-pronged strategy for tackling brain health from all angles immediately stood out,” said Schwartz. “I look forward to working with Garen and the entire Board to continue making strides forward on mental health science, education, funding and services on a global scale.”
Also sitting on One Mind’s board of directors are Garen Staglin (Chairman), Shari Staglin, Donna Friedman, Robina Riccitiello, Russ Deyo, Vince Rinaldi, Patrick Kennedy, Caryl Athanasiu, Gary Gottlieb, MD, MBA, Gwill York, Marlys Palumbo, Nancy Dearman, Paul Gallagher and Gary Bridge.
“With the dramatic expansion of our One Mind at Work program and the launch of One Mind Catalyst activities, it was particularly critical to bring on new members with extensive knowledge in corporate finance and venture capital, along with the personal passion for our mission,” said Garen Staglin, founder and chairman of One Mind. “One Mind is at an inflection point in terms of its opportunity and awareness in the field of global philanthropic support for brain health, and the addition of Harvey and Christopher’s experience and commitment to our work will help us continue to expand our reach and capabilities to new heights.”
Looking ahead, One Mind at Work will be hosting its Member Meeting on Tuesday, May 25, as well its Global Forum Wednesday, September 8 – Thursday, September 9, the premier event focusing on the topic of workplace mental health in the world.
